Just saw this movie Friday night. An OK horror flick, but I kept thinking, what if the whole town had khukris? Or maybe a battalion of Ghurkas showed up on dog sleds? My Foxy Folly in my right hand and a Bonecutter in the other. Slice and dice bloodsuckers!

Saw the movie, read the book, thought the movie was too dark. I'm on the hunt for the perfect vampire be-header. Just in case.

I watched it this weekend too and was thinking along the same lines.

A nice two-hander blade would be better balanced than the axe they were using. Or a scimitar or falchion maybe. A quick slice and dicer (or pair) to separate the nasties of their heads, arms, legs... what ever presents itself.

My initial thought is katana, been leaning more and more towards a larger khukuri though.

Katana would be nice, but a little more unweildy. Khukris can be very fast and pretty much equal the cutting power. Even a machete would be better than the aax. But I didn't see a lot of briars or forest there so chances of a machete at that local would be pretty slim. I'll have to change some training for that scenarion for fun.

I like the HI Ginunting,it's reverse curve, weight and balance, are perfect for taking the heads off vampires and mall zombies.

I haven't seen an HI ginunting, sorta like a curved wharncliffe? I wonder how "quick" a 25" khukuri would be?

IMO the movie sucks, saw it this weekend too. Who are these vampires? What is that language they talk. Why the hell do they act like animals even if they are dressed like buisnessmen? I prefer the classy vampires from Anne Rice or in Underworld.

I tough of it too, when I saw the vampire dying because he lost its head. I simply took a look at my Himalayan Sword and 15" BAS and told myself: These things never get out of bullets, and will chop a head better than that guy's axe.

Guess only Milla got the "khukuris are good against things that won't die", that chix is HOT. Wich I was able to clone her too.

If you read Monster Hunter International, the hero uses a HI AK against vampires. Reportedly, the sequel will feature a Chitlangi.

Cybrok-The film was based on graphic novels by Steve Niles. I moved it up in my netflix queue so I could watch it again. Mila?

Wolf_1989- How "fast" is your 26" chitlangi? That's the only thing,it'll work if you can swing it faster than vampire can react. I wonder if you could mace the $%#%&*! then put the khukuri to work?

It's fairly fast for me because I'm 6'5" and strong enough to handle a Conan-the-Barbarian-sized khukri.

Plus Bura gave it superb balance.

My 21.5" Chitlangi (Sher) is still my favorite and chances are good though that's the khukri I'd have on me when the undead hordes are unleashed because it's my favorite (not only my favorite khukri, but my very favorite blade of any I own), and the one I usually have on me. In my hands it is very fast. Proportionately a 20ish" khukri in my hands would probably be like a 15ish" khukri wielded by your average Nepali.

And it looks great with my AR.

I'm not quite over Chitlangi Fever. I'd like a saatisal one just like my prized horn-handled one, and I'm still waiting on the customized "Wolf's Battle Chitlangi" I ordered back in january.

Cool! Someone else that has a zombie gun! I've got a couple, current favorite is DPMS dissipator A2 upper build I threw together. I like the looks of the chitlangi, but I'm still leaning towards a sirupate, economics and cho placement.

I know it was based on a graphic novel, but trying to get a lot of studd in a 2 hours movie, you miss a lot of infos:

And I was talking about Milla Jovovich: Resident Evil, Fifth Element, Ultraviolet.

That was what I thought.

A little back story on these guys would have been nice. Where did they come from? How did they get there? Why did they think Alaska would be a fun place to hang out for 30 days?

I did enjoy it when the old bearded crazy guy went rampant with the backhoe.

Cybrok-Ah yes, that Mila.Just got resident evil extinction in from netflix today. My objection to 30 Days of Night was that, like a lot of films, everything is dark hard to see what's really going on. I think they save money on special effects doing it that way.

Actually, they shot it dark to keep with the graphic novel, which was also very darkly colored (watched the special featurette on the DvD). They used traditional film stock over digital because it gave them better blacks. It was actually a very expensive film to shoot (for a B'ish horror flick).

AcStudios-That's interesting to know,30 days of night is next up on my netflix queue. I watched Resident Evil Extinction last night, tad confused as Mila didn't seem to decapitate any of the zombies. She gutted some, sheared off some limbs, but mostly cut their throats. As I understand it that shouldn't kill a zombie. The khukuris she had were crude mockups too.:(

Yeah, I didn't understand the lack of decapitating, either. She's super-strong, but doesn't just use the best-designed hacking knife in the world to hack?!
