I am getting 300$ to spend on christmas I will also get 150$ from selling my old Ipod and phone and 60 more for work in a few weeks. So I am possibly looking at 500$+ in a month.

Now I could get one heck of an airsoft gun all the gear and have some money left over, but ist is getting cold out as well as a 200$ gun is a bit more then they have and might make things a little too unfair. Now I could also buy a paintball gun but I would actually be a little bit outclassed as a few guys have 300$ dollar guns and I also need the facemask, paintballs and all the gear.

Another consideration was to get a ruger .357 I have wanted that gun for years and if I traded in my .22 I could afford it however I would have nothing left and ammo prices are insane lately. and I hardly get to go target shooting anymore.

And of course what most people here think of when they see money is knives, I could afford a lot although my Dad said he thought it best to get knives or a gun he would take me to a psychologist if I bought a 400$ sebenza. But under 300$ I could probably get anything, any suggestions for a knife likely to keep value?

look for a used sebenza and then you spend like an additional $30 send it back to chris reeve and get it finished its like brand new

I suggest spending the money on hiring a financial planner.
There's no reason for asking everyone what you should do when you know your options clear enough to tell us.

Those were only some of my options more to give ideas than anything else. as I mentioned each has a flaw, I'm assuming the remark was meant to be smart but if not I am only 16 so there is hardly a point.

Open an IRA and buy yourself a tax break. :D

If the money is 'extra' and it was burning a hole in my pocket, I'd hesitate to spend that much on a single item. A new pair of hiking boots, fishing rod and reel, and basic digital camera would be under $500 combined. Probably even with enough $$ left over for a $50 knife or two.

Happy shopping!

A Roth IRA would be a good way to spend your money.

A Remington Express 870 shotgun with rebates can be had for ~$250 NIB from a big box place. A gently used Glock 17 or wheel gun should be easy to find for less then $500. Gander Mountain will have Carbon-15's for $600 on Thanksgiving! :)

I like Bob W's idea. Buy a bunch of less expensive stuff. You can find some great knives for $50 or less.
SB34, I didn't have a financial planner when I was 16 either. It's not like you see that much restraint here on the forum..."here's my collection of Sebenzas"..."added another knife today, 2,000 and counting"..."my latest custom, neptunium blade with do-do bird and t-rex bone handles"...and so on.
Be smart with your money but enjoy it and get yourself some nice stuff. It sounds like you don't mind be outdoors, rare now-a-days for a teenager, buy things that you will use. Have fun.

Yes, to answer both the money is extra not counting phone bill money and while I will be getting a vehicle I will not be able to get what I want if I pay and If my parents want to spend 2000 on a truck then if I add my 500 I will not be able to get a 2500 dollar truck they will just pay 1500 instead. I am getting a part time job to pay for insurance and gas after I get the truck anyway.

I probably will buy cheaper stuff, Maybe a cheaper airsoft gun so I don't send people running and some spydercos or maybe a good fixed blade spending 500 on a custom sebenza makes very little sense considering it won't be any sharper then a cheaper knife and I wouldn't even use it.

Get what you want!
Its Christmas presents.
Your still a kid,I wasnt too responsible
with my "toys" when I was young,so maybe
it might be best to get many cheaper things than a few
expensive items.

Shopping, thinking what to get,we used to do that
with the Sears Wishbook (a printed shopping catalog)

Anyway, enjoy your time, dreaming us half the fun.

Dont listen to the Old Farts
401k's arent what they were a few years ago! :D

I'll tell ya what...Send 1/2 of your money to me as a gift, and then I'll let you spend the rest of it on what you want.:D.:D.

Take a peek at the tactical Remington 870 18 inch on Buds. Last time I looked it was going for around $321 with free shipping to your local gun shop.

a used canoe, paddles, couple drybags, and pfd. then have fun for the next 20 yrs.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I actually went the kayaking route myself, but a canoe or kayak is pretty much the best thing ever.
