As some of you might have saw yesterday I got a few flippers picked out and ordered and now I'm looking for a solid hard use folder.
I haven't look at many folders really Medford/grayman that bunch with super thick blades just won't work for me I don't see them cutting well at all and then the weight is killer.
The few folders that I'm currently thinking about are

El patron - probably an obvious one here and seems to be loved by many members here.

Les George vecp 2 - while maybe not catagorized as hard use I like it

Have a strider coming in the mail today

So let's see some ideas

As always thanks in advance

Love that El Patron with SM-100 blade, but my Sebenza 25 feels just as stout as my Hinderer but cuts alot better. The new grind is awesome:thumbup:

You will love that Strider.
Try an Emerson.

I just hope the sng is the right size for me we will see.

And are there any other customs that are close to the el patron ?

I'll be carrying this knife while I'm hiking btw so ppl have more idea of what I'm aiming for
3/16 blade stock high quality wear resistant tough steel cpm d2 s90v s110v etc 3.25-3.75in blade 3.5/3.625 prefered under 9" OAL usually I like choils for the extra control grip so on

I don't think you can really beat the patron either just looking for ideas

Evan I ordered a tighe breaker this morning with button lock and the old blade style Standard 4" blade 9.125 OAL will be a big knife... Said he has plans for a smaller version in the future

And I'm going to get a bluephin as well supposed to let po know tonight on 3.5" or 3.75" blade
I'm actually wondering wether to get the flipper or just thumb studs will be in LSCF

The SnG shud be just-right.
Congratz on the Leu also! I asked Po to make my flipper with thumb studs but he said NO.
Will you get a Willumsen?

It's still in cards at some point but I'm probably done till blade after making those 2 purchases

I just bought a Para 2 for my hiking knife. Cheap enough that if I lose it I won't hike the trail in reverse to find it but sturdy enough to take some heavy use...simple design for cleaning, etc. Not in line with your original question but something to consider. Very light, great slicer, compression lock is handy...

Awesome! Congrats on the orders!

Personally, I hate it when flippers have thumb studs so I'm glad Po's don't have them.

Are these your first knives or are you just new to the forum? (like myself)

Nate- When you can, get one from Mikkel.
evan- Yes. Po said the same thing; it makes no sense to have studs on a flipper.
I like the fact that Mikkel has a blade slot on some of his flippers.

I don't want both just can't decide on which 1 atm

And I'm new to knives really have had some kershaws here and there before joining but never got into specs or what quality materials just bought what looked "good" lol
Before I was really a computer person my family doesnt do much hunting and I wasn't taught how to hunt or anything like that I turned 21 bought my first handgun picked up a shotgun a lil later and started going out by myself hunting hiking trails nearby and stuff then got into knives.

I actually ended up on the forums because I was looking for a kershaw blur in orange (I didn't know it was limited to 300 and made in 2007) couldn't find it looked for pm2 couldn't find it posted here I now have both.

Well... if you get into fixed blades, and you will, get on Dozier's list now or look for one for sale. I waited too long to get one. The Dozier knife fits the hand like no other.

It's probably been 2weeks since I've heard from Matt bailey but he's supposed to be making me a smaller hidden tang fixed knife for a pocket sheath and a larger machete type 1

If you end up wanting a smaller fixed blade I'd try out a Busse basic 4 anorexic. It's got res-c handle which are comfortable and grippy. For the $200 price tag you can't go wrong. If you don't like it you can get your money back out of it. They are not in production anymore but I see them on the exchange often.

Patron! So many steels to choose.
Jeremy is responsive. Great to work with.

And....jbsknives. Jason Stout. Check him out! One of the best newer makers. Get on his list before its too late. He has a smooth functioning folder whether liner or frame. I hear one if the best lock geometries as well.

Doesn't Pro-tech sell a titanium framelock? I think it's called Infinity, or Integrity, or something like that. Their quality and customer service are unbeatable.

Edit: It's Integrity.
