When I first posted this pocketknife here several years ago I stated that my Grandma gave it to me for my 15th Birthday (that would have been in November 1970). You thought it was made a tad bit latter than that, but I remembered it all so well we went with my recollection. I did tell you that if I ever ran into the fellow who worked at the hardware store back then I would get him to read the code to me. Guess what? I ran into him recently, as mentioned he ran the gun and knife counter at the hardware store back in that day, and I showed the box to him - he told me the code on the box "13 IXR" indicated that my knife was received into their stock in January 1973 (the 13 part of the code) and that the wholesale cost was $9.00 (the IXR part of the code)! My memory must not be so hot after all - guess this must have been my HS Grad present (June 1st, 1973) because I don't know why else my Grandma would have bought me so nice a gift - she didn't have much money and only bought a gift like this for a special occasion. Oh well, now I wonder what else I don't remember right?? I also don't remember what knife I carried in HS - only other pocketknife I can remember was my BSA knife. OH
