Got sort of knived out and took a break. But like "the dog to his vomit" here I am back with some info on 315s, 319s and 321s. You are probably saying why would he use that quote. Well, it seems the more I share info with you people the less knives I find and can afford to buy. So someone might say I am shooting myself in the foot......
.but in the end, no one but Armand, Plum and 110D can get them all anyway.
So here's number 5 and it looks like there will be a number 10 eventually. (BF has a 10 photo post limit per thread)
Enjoy 300Bucks/ch
There are a couple of folks over in the eastern time zone that collect these Yachtsmans knives hard. The rest of us will generally be able to eventually find these 4. Camillus made them pretty decent, especially the nickle bolstered ones.
The un-bolstered ones came in several versions. Two different spring types, hidden bolster pins, very few with hot pressed BUCK stamped on side and again very few with partial serrated blade. Came with regular 110 shaped sheath.
They ended up with several variations of scale materials some by Buck custom shop and some aftermarket.
Here's how a man-o-sea would fancy rig his sailors knife. It looped over your shoulder and allowed you to clip to a safety line to keep you from washing overboard and then the knife was lined also but stayed in the pocket till used.
The big folders. Lots of manufs. made similar models. These Buck/Camillus versions were liked by many. They command high prices for some reason. I was told by someone that bikers like them, don't know that for fact. These two models are the most common, NOT the serrated secondary blade version.
Just a couple of examples of rare ones. Several had etching and stamping on the blades. The first proto-types had scale rivets. I only know of two others.
The Rancher, a 301 with a leather awl. The serrated awl in carbon steel and will rust if not taken care of, the newer version is all SS. I think the newer one punches a better hole.
The Bird Knife, if anyone actually uses these to dress birds I would appreciate a couple of photos on how you do it.....I found one once that someone had removed the gut hook and it makes a nice thin single blade trapper style knife. Sorta like the new upcoming single blade 301/302. And just so you don't think I have every 300, I don't have the BUCK scale shield version. But I have handled one.....
More to come in a few days.....
