300-series (US made) dying?

I spotted a 310 model on eBay. It appears to be a split-back whittler. Too bad this model isn't made anymore.

Will there ever be new models for this series, or are they just going to remain stagnant and maybe keep dropping one now and then?

Will we ever get new Buck slipjoints again, besides the cheap Walmart stuff?

I never thought I would be defending the overseas knives but I do have to admit that the quality is there. We did have some issues at the start but they have been resolved now. I don't get many sent in to the warrantee department for things other than abuse. Believe me, I was looking for a reason to hate these knives but they really are well made.
As to your question of other models being added I have not heard anything. I too would love to see some of the older 300 series make a come back. Some of them never really stopped being popular and if you can find one today, the seller wants a premium price.
Hope this helps,

Hey Joe, can you answer one question?

Are the 300 series USA made knives still in production, or have you gone to only the Chinese made stuff?

I get conflicting stories from retailers and dealers.

I can answer this for Joe. The 300 series USA made knives are still being made in the new Idaho plant. The available models are 301, 303, 305 and 309. These knives have the traditional black composition handle inlays with the old Buck logo shield (hammer, bolt, blade)

Thanks, it's nice to hear a definitive answer, I am seeing these models show up at shows with dealers telling people they have been "discontinued", I had a hunch it was sleazy sales tactics.
