Hi all,

I've officially hit my 300th post milestone after being a member for nearly a year and a half. I remember first coming here closer to two and a half years ago, looking to the wisdom of those who came before me in choosing a new knife. I've had several homes that I visit regularly here: Wilderness and Survival, Whine and Cheese, Spyderco and Buck, General Chat...but nothing comes quite close to the community I feel over here in the Traditional corner of things. Despite my relative newness over here, I thank you for making me feel like a member of the family.

In order to celebrate this auspicious event accordingly, I would like to conduct a bit of a giveaway. I don't have pictures because my camera's acting wonky, but I have a Victorinox Spartan and a Buck 371 that are looking for new homes. Both knives have been carried and loved, but are still relatively new and in great shape.

The rules are simple: post a picture of your favorite knife, or your collection, if you want. Post a favorite memory or anecdote, share a yarn with the community, it matters not. Might as well share some good reading and memories with the community while we're at it :) Next Sunday, April 26, I'll use your run posts 2 through whatever the last one is into a random number generator, and select a winner that way. Cut off time will be around noon-ish, PST.

Good luck to everyone, and I look forward to seeing how this turns out.

Best,

Keith

Thanks for the giveaway  but please don't consider me.
This truly is the best place to spend time... A lot of great people and some incredible knives to drool over..

Sadly my the camera I normally use is broken, so I have to post a lame stock photo. But this is my current EDC and once I get a new camera I'll come back here and post some more personalized pics.

I have tried to figure out what my favorite knife is and I just can't do it. I do carry one more that any other. It's a Schatt about 3 and one half inches with a clip blade on one end and a sheepsfoot on the other, and uses a single back spring. You don't need to include me in the give away. I have won a few knives in the past year and I would feel sorta bad if I did it again. Give the other fellas a chance. So thanks anyway, and enjoy the contest.

Thank you everyone for the congratulatory posts. Great looking knives. Wish I had a camera that didn't suck up batteries like a sponge does water. Not to mention the talent and eye to take a good photograph :)

Well thanks for the chance. On this day (Jan 20ish) this year, it was quite warm. As you might be able to tell. I may live near a ocean. Thought it a great day to bust on my Spyderco Salt

Play favorites? Never! ...though as far as my traditionals go it's a tie between my Bermuda green swayback (EDC) and my MOP coke-bottle (special occasions).

It is really hard for me to pick my favorite knife. Many were made by friends with me in mind and to pick one over the other is impossible for me. The one by Tony came to me in a drawing by blind luck. All have one thing in common, they were made by people who I admire as people as well as knife makers.

Here are a some contenders.

Bailey Bradshaw made this for me a few years ago, based on a knife in the Sheffield Exhibition Knives book. Knives aside, Bailey and I have become friends over the years. This knife is very special to me due to that friendship.

Here is another from Richard Rogers that is about 10 or 12 years old. Another one made by a friend, based on a knife I let him borrow.

This one was made by a BFC brother. Mark and I met at a hammer-in a few years ago. He helped me forge my first knife (I think that is what it was ;)) Over the years I have grown to love Mark and his wife Deb. He also made a beautiful cane for my mom.

Another BFC based friendship from a guy who adds so much to this particular forum.
Many of us have been fortunate to spend time with Kerry face to face. A good man with a wonderful sense of humor. One of many I have gotten to know a little and knowing them has made me a better person.

Can not forget my dad. I have never known another man who has lived his life in the way he has. I could not have a better example and will never be the person he is.
The first knife he gave me.

Another BFC knife. Blues had some input into this. I have not known Ken a long time and have never met him face to face, but again I am a better person for having gotten to know him a little.

Kit Carson. A brother and a friend made this for me as a total surprise. Just another good man who has been a good influence on me and those of you who know me also know I need all the good influence I can get.

Last, but not least I won this at a Blade drawing really before I really had any long interaction with Tony. Another man who although he does not know it has served as an example to me regarding life in general. If a person can look at Tony or my dad from the point of view of how they treat people and how they lead their life by example, they are very fortunate.

There are some common threads here. Family, Friendship, and people who have made me better just from knowing them.

P.S Edited to add:
Thank you for doing this. Please do not enter my post for your generous giveaway.

I spent the afternoon with one of my knife collecting buddies; a custom collector with 30 years + collecting. We just talked for 3 hours about the people.
(and also had another highlight of getting to CF and CE his new Bose swayback in Rem. bone. )
