301BKS-B Scales - How are they held in place?

I want to put some nice wood scales on a pocket knife for my Dad for Christmas. I bought a 301 with the black sawcut scales. After looking this thing over, I'm concerned the scales are glued on since there is only the rocker pin visible.

Any of you slippie experts help me figure this out before I do it the hard way by trying to get them off cleanly?

Thanks in advance.

Casey,

I have had several threads on this in the Buck and Traditional forums. One here not long ago. You likely should have gotten a Chairman series. Grind off four rivet heads and done. On any other model you have to redo the spring rivet in the least. The sawcut is the worst as the shield is a pillar intergal to the liner and must be ground away or suffer lots of fitting issues trying to put a scale over it.......the blue Buck shields are just inserts.

Should have asked you first. I'll find something else to do with this one and grab another.

Gracias!
