Which knife do you think would be the better choice? The knife would be used for a lot of whittling, and any type of small work that a knife would be used for while camping or hiking(I will also have a custom 110 with me for larger chores).

Thanks!

Jeff

Buy the 303 Cadet. Flat grind blades, sawcut delrin scales, and better blade shapes.
The 703 is more of a dress knife. The features of the 303 make it the better choice
even if it isn't pretty to look at. Both are good knives, they just approch the stockman
design from different angles.

My choice for whittling and other such chores would be the 303 Cadet. I have both and like them both but the 303 fits my hand very well and is just shaped better for that type of work. The 303 is one of my all time favorite knives. You won't go wrong with either.

I have been asked this question quite a few times and the concern i hear most often is that maybe the dlerin on the 303 will not be as strong as the wood on the 703. We get very few of either knife back for problems with the inlays.
Of the knives that we get back that have been run over,(you'd be surprised!), the delrin definetely holds up better though!

Hope this helps,

I understand that except for special make-ups (special orders in quantity), Buck is discontinuing the 700 series for 2002

Joe, Is it true that the 700 line is doomed?? To bad if it is. These
knives are an excellent value in a premium pocket knife. With
the re-newed intrest in multi blade pocket knives is this a good thing
for Buck to do??
