Here is a 303 from 1989 that's a bit of a mystery to me. I am trying to figure out who did the turquoise and jet handle. My first thought was Santa Fe Stoneworks, but they say it isn't theirs. I've asked a couple of collectors about it and we have eliminated most of the usual suspects. It might be an early work from Blue Mountain Turquoise, but they haven't replied to my query. Maybe it was done by someone who didn't specialize in knives. In the mid-1980s almost anything with turquoise would sell.

Take a look and take a guess.

Doris Yazzie, perhaps? I don't know much about her but she's responsible for several 303s similar to this that I have seen.

Doris Yazzie, perhaps?

I don't think so. First, almost all of her knives have some wood on the handle. Second, she almost always has her name etched on the blade and that isn't the case here. Third, I don't think she started doing her own work until 1989, which would make this one of her first efforts.

That is a great looking knife. I love the turquoise. I hope someone can identify it for you.

I just got an email from Blue Mountain Turquoise and they say it does look like one of their knives. That's good enough for me.

It might be BMT. It sure is good looking. How do you guys find these interesting knives?
