8" 304/O1 clad cimeter, lace Maple burl from Tim Kipps. 309grams and extremely sharp. Heading down to a Marine Colonel in Louisiana next week.

A cimeter is a type of butcher knife. It's good for breaking down animals into cuts... I think it's derived from "scimitar" as the typical curve is reminiscent of that weapon.
Not to be rude, I'm sure the OP can explain as well!

I would agree with Salem. I have, for the most part, given up etching blades of this sort.

Not a smart move. It should be etched. Do something to set yourself apart from the(many) competitors at this level of knife construction!

The handle needs a slight hook at the butt, look at Dexter SaniSafe for shape examples.

Personally, I hate the "as forged/scale" flats on a using knife for meat cutting.....if the Colonel is happy/doesn't know any better...bonus for you, but any qualified meat processor would and likely would request all satin finish/mirror polish to minimize hang ups and product stuck to the blade.

If the wood is stabilized, it's a fine material for the intended use...if not....it's not.

Best Regards,
