Can someone tell me what the last year of production was for the 307?

Thanks
Tom

I "think" around 1986-87 when Buck stopped contracting the 300 series out to Camillus and began making them in-house, according to Tom Ables "The Story of Buck Knives", at that time the they redesigned the 4 most popular models, 301, 303, 305 and 309 and continued to make them, even though they had originally planned to drop them with the introduction of the 700 series, but demand for the 300's stayed high enough to keep them going.

I recently picked up a new Camillus large stockman and they are pretty cool, BIG pocket knife but can just about cover all a guys normal cutting needs.

Oh hey, Tom the Mt. Vernon Knife Show is Nov. 5-6 at thesame place as last year, you gonna make it?

The model 307 last appeared in the Buck catalog in 1997. I suspect that for perhaps the last year or so of catalog appearances, Buck was only keeping this model listed to deplete inventory. That is purely conjecture on my part. I addressed this issue in an article on the 300 series that appeared in a past BCC newsletter. Here is how I stated it:

"I suspect that...Buck discontinued the contract models as the existing inventory of each was depleted."

As late as 1997??? WOW...way later than I thought. Were these "contract" knives or did Buck ever make the 307 "in house"?

Thanks TLC and Larry. TLC, I hope to make the Mount Vernon show. Will probably try to make it on Saturday. Maybe I'll see you there.

Gonna try for it, depends on how high gas gets! at 3-4 bucks a gallomn, I could buy a knife for what it would cost to drive up and back.

Hoping to make it though....
