Well, I am in the process of rebuilding a pump which has a 30mm bore diameter (I.D.). The inner race of the o-ring groove is 22mm. THe stock o-ring measures 3mm thick and does not hold pressure well (is marginally useable).
I'm thinking I need a 30mm O.D. by 4mm thick o-ring. Now the real question is what material is best? I think that the stock grease is petroleum based and the entire inside of teh tube has a light coat. If I can find them, I think synthetic o-rings might work better, but I've heard of durability issues with silicone and PTFE o-rings (and since this is a pump plunger and not a static application, like in a flashlight head thats bad).
Does anybody have a recommendation for a durable, petroleum resistance o-ring?
