Hello,
I recently purchased an old stock, new in the box Buck 315 Yachtsman at a local hardware store. I just noticed that it does not have bolsters or the bolt and knife shield. Every 315 I have seen on ebay and in older Buck catalogs has bolsters and the Buck shield. The box is black and the paperwork is in English and French. The label on the end flap of the box says Yachtsman 0315-00-0 Cat. 486. The blade is stamped Buck 315 USA. The handle is black with two rivets in the middle. Rivets are also visible at both ends. Any ideas about this 315?

I just happen to be here and this is fast answer I will do more for you in a dozen or so minutes. All is fine. You have the late model 315 made by Camillus for Buck. Camillus made one just like it with their name on it also. Out of about 7 standared versions, yours is version 7. Will show you a photo of the next model up as soon as I go and find it. 300Bucks

Plumb, Your 100 times at that better than me. I was going to go get the photo again. Team effort is the way. Thanks 300

Here's the picture from post 16.

Your version is the latest w/ split springs, then back to 'barehead' version with no rivets showing and solid spring, then to version with bolsters and tang reads Buck,315,USA and then the oldest tang reads Buck,Made In USA, 315 on reverse.. There is a "special" version or two in there also. Very small number of bareheads with Buck hot stamped in scale and a bolstered version with serrated blade. 300Bucks

All's well that ends well. As the OP of that referenced thread, I wanted to thank my enablers... here is my current 'vast' 315 collection:

Well, I remebered wrong and miss-spoke in post above, when records were actually checked. Splits are early bareheads (no bolsters).
Here is written record.
1. Bolsters, Made In USA on tang, 315 on reverse 72-74
2. Bolsters, Buck,315, USA on tang 74-85
3. No Bolsters, Buck,315,USA, no rivets on scales, Single spring, hot stamped Buck in scale (few) 86-87
4. No Bolsters, Buck,315,USA, rivets on scales, Split springs 88-89
5. No Bolsters, Buck,315,USA, rivets on scales, solid springs 89-98

The 315 has now officially been added to the list of knives that we can not repair anymore. No parts! :(

Is there a complete list somewhere? This would be useful for collectors.

What does Buck do for warranty coverage on these knives? Do you replace it with some other knife? Just curious.
