David,
Usually a 110 sheath on a 317 is a replacement sheath. Bert along with several 300 collectors have conversed on these 317s a bunch lately, I may have been lax in not including you, please let me know you want to be included.
I have never seen a date stamp 317, and any 317 that has visited Buck land has been a special order from back in the old custom shop days or Joe may have had a few blades and re-bladed some. FYI No 317 or 307 parts are left at the Buck factory for warranty work. Anza knives also rescaled some 317s in its early history. David, I have never seen a date stamped 307 , please get a photo on the next one seen so I can have it for the record file. Some 307s were assembled after the sale of Camillus, the same craftsman that made them on the factory floor bought the parts, took them home and assembled them the same as the Camillus production line product. He even used a Buck box, although not the right era, to sell them in. I consider these REAL Buck 307s, no different than those produced a few years earlier when the factory was still running, put them in a yellow 307 box and you will a valid collectors level 307. IN my opinion.......300Bucks
PS Joe, would fix a 307 or 317 but the only way is to scratch up your own parts from junkers. Buy one somewhere with good main blade, one with good scales, good secondary blade. You get my drift. You would have to have your own parts for Buck to use to repair either model. Or you will only be offered a new knife model of similar size as replacement.
