I have 2 Legants & several Iver Johnsons. My question is : How much more kick does the longer round have.

32 ? 32S&W, 32S&W Long, 32 Short Colt, 32 Long Colt . If you're worried about recoil of any of these rounds you have a big problem !!!

Not worried about recoil. I was wondering how much more impact/penetration there would be.

To really get anything that begins to reach even a 38 you need to step it up to a 32 H&R Magnum. Then the energy gets up there and will approach a 38 plus P or so for penetration, especially in a longer barrel but otherwise I don't think you'll get much to write home about with the 32 in either auto, short or long. Some seem to say the energy is higher than a 357 mag in the 32 H&R Mag but I have trouble believing that personally. I like my 32 S&W AirLite Ti revolver though but of course thats a gun that can shoot all the above, even the 32 auto which is a 'semi rimmed' cartridge. In fact I've shot more 32 auto in that revolver than I have anything else.

Anyway, there is enough kick to get the job done. My grandfather worked in law enforcement and fish and game wildlife as a game warden and his carry duty gun all those years was a Colt 32 Long revolver which I happen to know killed many dogs running deer in the woods because I personally witnessed him pop a few myself as a youth. So I'd say someone believed in it. Some of them shepherds he killed were big dogs and one shot kills. Now a days we probably get a laugh out of that round compared to the 357 sigs and 40 cal, 10mm and others but it seemed to work for folks back then just fine.

I am fully satisfied with your story about your grandfather.

I want to answer the night doorbell with it in my right hand.

Thankx again.

STR, I'm interseted in your S&W Airlite Ti revolver. I took a look at S&W's on-line catalog and couldn't find it. Could you give me the Model Number and description? Thanx.

I heard a while back that they quit making the 32 H&R Mag version of it. 38s are everywhere though. The 32 has become quite desireable. I've even had the dealer that sold me mine try to buy it back three times now. Easiest way to find it since I've purged all my pics recently and stored them to a flash drive is this link to just what I have: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=184512664

The above revolver is exactly what I own with the only difference being that I took off those small grips it came with (I still have them though) and replaced them with the full size grip allowing for a better grip like the ones shipped on the Air Lite 22 LR Revolver w/3" barrel, which I also happen to own. Great firearms both!

My 22 is this same model only mine is one of the older original versions from when it first came out and has the solid front site not the fiber optic one as shown. This is my all time favorite 22 LR handgun and I've owned them all at one time. I wish they offered this in a 4" barrel though when I bought it. Then I could "legally" hunt with it. ;)

Oh and by the way. The model number is 331

Flash drives are not reliable. If you care at all about keeping those pix copy them to external hard drives and/or DVDs and/or backup on the net.

Bought a .327 Federal magnum in Ruger's SP101..a 3" finger burner six(6) shooter with the usual blast of such things. Nice revolver, built like a tank and weighs only somewhat less.

Ammunition pricing OK, IMHO but not universally available in my area.

Best feature for some is can shoot all current .32 revolver loadings.

I carry a Mod 66 3" so the SP101 is a throw in the car or bag gun..nothing wrong with it but weight vs the 66 will not make it a consistent carry revolver for me.

Like the Grandpa story..we had an old Patrol LT who you could hear the bullets rattle in his revolver he shook so bad but man could he shoot.

Oh yeah I realize they are iffy at times. Thanks Cougar. I'm in the process of switching computers. Just got a new one and just transferring some things over and that was easier than using 27 or 28 CD's :D
