Hello,

I just bought a Schrade Old Timer Middleman knife. I chose this model after a long and careful research/deliberation process. I really like the look of this knife as well as the look of the old carbon steel. So I can't wait for my knife to age. :) Since I haven't much experience with this knife yet, I was hoping that some of you would be kind enough to share your experiences with me. Thanks,

S.

Spill: I bought quite a few of these at military PXs prior to deploying to Iraq in 2005. All but one were sent home to family members. One I have carried every day since purchasing it. You can't go wrong with the 34OT!

Spill, one of the things folks need to know is if the knife is a USA made Schrade, this can have a HUGE effect on weather or not you will get a nice carbon patina on the blades. Yes you will have an excellent knife if (USA) the later made "CHIRADES" :D are well lets just say not well liked here :).

Tha 34OT Middleman Stockman holds the record for numbers produced by Schrade during its lifetime.
1964-2004 for the US version and one of the 1st to be released by Taylor in the new Schrade.
Originally Carbon blades they were switched to Stainless.

Here is the 34OT from Robert Clementes version 1 of his book.

Spill, you picked a great knife. A coincidence, a package came in today from West Virginia:

Been looking for the old one in the original View-Pak for a long time. It was a good one. Almost mint. Super tight. Needed to be oiled. Still razor sharp.

The 34 OT is a great EDC knife. I dont have as many Schrades as the rest of these guys(only 20 or so),but the 34OT is the only one that I have a spare of. Just in case I loose the other.

I agree with the above, I have a few tucked away for just in case.

Sweet SW 34OT Hal, love those old View-pack knives.

Russell
