Picked up a 34ot a week or so ago. Been carrying a 8ot for a while and wanted something a little smaller. I've heard "read" alot about Schrade's quality control slipping but you sure can't tell it by this one. Fit and finish are good as is the walk and talk.
I really like my Old Timers and keep coming back to them.

Thanks for stopping into the most friendly forum here, Grateful. Your new knife is of course a classic. So much more 'soul' & tradition than the liner-less, thumb-stud, pocket-clipped 'state of the art' knives.

Regards,
Phil

Use it in good health. Unlike people a good knife it treated right will never let you down. LT

You know I think this really is the friendliest forum at Blade Forums. Thanks for the replys, getting a knew knife is sort of like enlarging the herd. Another member of the family. I think it's cool to be able to mention getting something new or used and getting some feed back. Am I crazy? Not sure how many days I've had my 34ot, two weeks maybe, but I have carried and used it every day and really like it.

In ways a knife is better than family it only seeks to serve and never asks for anything. If this forum has a quality which is perhapes a bit different it is because there are no experts everyone is here to participate. perhapes the flavor is due to no one being contentious enough not to realize that a knife is only a tool its real strengh and qualitys are in the people who use them and appreciate their qualitys and purpose. That being said there is also the possibility that we are more like the dirty dozen of knife collecting. Any way welcome aboard what we lack in size we make up for in diversity of subject matter. LT

Is a 34-OT the new number than the 340T? I just acquired a 340T today that was in mint condition.

Hey LT,
Yes it is a Stockman pattern with Delrin handles. According to what was quoted previously in this thread it sounds like it's from about 63'?
Thanks,
Richard

Tang marking should be Schrade Walden NY USA ( or similiar ). For that vintage. LT
