Looking again for a US made 34OT, with good walk and talk. Whats the next larger stockman design? Did Schrade made any large stockmans similar in size to the Buck 301?

the next up from the 34OT in similar stockman pattern is the 8OT, after that there is a larger model the 858OT. take a look at some on e-bay

Schrade also made other models in the Stockman design, 61OT, 98OT, and a knife that was made under the Ulster name, although it was an Old Timer, 58OT. These types are hard to get hold of.

The 8OT is nearly identical to the 34, but a bit larger. They both have three blades and the square-end stockman pattern. Other models with the same style include the 33OT (only two blades), the John Primble #935, 36OT, 89OT, and the 44OT (four blades).

The 61OT, 98OT, and 58OT that rusty mentioned are similar in size and blade configuration, but have rounded bolsters.

If I were to pick out one Old Timer for carrying, it would be the 61OT. I love the handle shape, blade choice, and size.

The 34OT and 8OT are probably the most common models available in the resale market. I think if you find a NIB example of either, you'll be happy with the spring action and fit.
The only Old Timer I have with a weak action is one that had been a store display.

I have a few 34OT USA made. Let me know if you still need one and I can email some pics and descriptions if you like.
Best Wishes,
