  . Id like to hear what everyone else thinks ,with whats going on today. It seems like everyones pay stays the same and prices just keep going up and up. when will it end. Im single and dont have any kids, my house is paid for and i dont have many expenses, and times are tough, i cant imagin how people with 3 kids, 2 car payments, a morgage, etc.... do it today. Im 38 and semi retired, but i cant see how people can even save today for retirement. Am i alone in my way of thinking or is it really not that bad out there. Im from new jersey where the average home is 500,000 k and yearly property tax is average 11,000 k. Maybe life is easier in other states. ahhh some day maybe i'll get to live in the backwoods of vermont. ---p.s im posting in g&g because i had to go to ace hardwear today and buy a 35.00 snow shovel. and p.p.s does anyone know of a great snow shovel they can recomend. something i could use for 2 to 5 inchs, when i could just push it rather than lifting it.

You said it!!!!!
I'm 30, divorced w 1 daughter. It Ain't easy!!!

Backwoods in VT.....Hmmmm I wonder if my daughter will dig it????

Hi All-

I typically use smaller, square-shaped garden shovels because snow shovels deform and become junk within a couple uses. Buying goods and services is also much easier for me because "being semi-retired" is not in the cards for me before age forty as it is with you. If this is by choice, it means you made a bundle of money somewhere along the way.

No, i didnt make a bundle, just was an only child, whose parents did ok years ago. wish i could take credit for being smart enough to have made big money.

My wife and I do well, but our 3,200 sq. ft. home was $75,000 and our property taxes are $500/year. There's no way we could achieve the same standard of living in an urban area, even with higher pay and some expenses being lower.

Hi Backwoods VT-

You are young, your home is completely paid, have wealthy parents, no children, and are semi-retired. The best technique to overcome outstanding financial issues would be to add a part-time job so that your total hours would be equivalent to working full-time. That should be sufficient to get you over the hump.

$35 for a snow shovel??? Is it motorized? Is it made of titanium? Was it designed by Christian Dior?

nope just blue plastic, at ace hardware. I have a feeling those babies are gona be on the shelf till april.

I guess I'm pretty out of date. I usually use one of those red painted USA made shovels. Made out of steel, with a wood handle. Only plastic part is the handle. It cost something like $15.00 at Lowes over 5 years ago, when I bought it. Heavy as can be, but it's a good work-out. Does a number on ice too. Don't think that's what youre looking for.
