Hey guys, I recently came up with about $350 to upgrade my survival setup. I already have mostly all necessities, I'm just purely looking to upgrade. Nothing that I have is of great value, so I guess what I'm asking is, what do you find to be the most important pieces to upgrade, and suggestions of brands and products would be great also.
Thanks.

If I had $350.00 and didn't have a Ruger 10/22 and a lot of ammunition for it, that is what I would be purchasing. I know it's Bladeforums and this is not the knife-angle, but it's the realism angle. If I had a 10/22, I'd be hunting a Ruger MKII to go with it.

oh yeah everyone needs a good 410/22 over under rifle!
had a very old one as a teenager, I would get so many rabbits and quail.
they really are an awesome gun, if you are to young to buy a gun or arent a gun person
Busse BWMs are sweet too!

titanium billies/pots.
Guyot squishy bowls
A commercial gassification stove that takes batteries, very cool, 80 bucks look for the threads on them.

It is gonna be like x-mas all over again, so much good gear.

Thanks for the replies so far. I am definately interested in the Busse knives. I don't know which ones I can afford at that rate, as I am fairly new to this forum right now. Which ones are in the pictures at top?

Also, do you think that a knife is a more important than a new bag. I do already have a 10/22, so I am good on that front.

You have 2,000 rounds for it? You have 6 ten rounders and 4 high caps for it? Scope and mount? Sling? Backpacking case for it? :D

If I had the money, I'd have me a 10/22 and a MKII and I'd have me a (legal) suppressor that would fit them both and have both tapped so I could switch back and forth between them as needed. :)

If I've got to carry a good load over any distance I want it done in a good load hauling pack. I like MacPac but obviously there's loads to try.

Dunno about makes of Silnylon tarp 'cos I make them but others do. 10'*10' is a good size. There's another thread running on this.

Good bivvy bag and sleeping bag. Again makes abound and what suits me might not you, but I'd definitely load up on this.

Probably the wrong place to say this but I regard those items as much more important to get right than chasing custom knives. I say that just to give an idea of how strongly I feel about this. It can make the difference between light, dry, comfortable and cold, wet, tired. That's a huge difference in experience. The difference between say a $40 Benchmade Rant and a $250 custom thing might not be very much at all when it comes to cutting stuff. Really, I'd take an old kitchen knife if that's what I had to do to get the bergan, the roof, and the sleep system right.

Supposing you had that all dandy something that caught my attention a little while ago was the Helios. None of the other Jetboil stuff has done anything for me but this one has features I like. I'm very happy with my current burner but if I was looking to upgrade I'd research this one.

Good axe, comfortable carbon bush knife, comfortable rucksack, and comfortable boots. Past that, maybe a wool shirt, a good .22 or shotgun, and gas to get me to the woods more often. :)

To hard to say without knowing what you have and don't already have, so I say - Blades :D

Of course you could get three RAT's for the price of that one Busse. NOT trying to start a RAT vs Busse debate, just letting you know :D

Those are Busse bush whacker mistresses they are the FBMs anorexic sister
they are still one pre order for 347$ better hurry though!

Take a wilderness survival class.

Or at least buy books with it.

Save enough back for an axe if you don't have one.

A good knife, axe, firearm and fire making components would be at the top of my list if you are going to upgrade what you already have. As for brands, many are good but for me I like a Falkniven Knife, a Gransfors Bruks Axe, a Savage 24V .22/20 Ga and a K&M MatchSafe along with a good Ferro Rod. Just my thoughts.

Ya need a Knatchet buddy, definitely one of the best all round survival tools I've used !
