No pics yet but I had to make at least a quick post for now. Got a sample handle from Seymour/Link and it's a real club. :p Very nice dense wood and absolutely milky white, but dang is it heavy. That's ok, though--it gives me a lot of material to shave down to suit, and the knob is massive with kind of an odd long form to it but I think it was possibly intended for you to haft the axe and then cut the end into a proper fawn's foot? There's enough material there for that at any rate. Should make a fun project at least. I've got an Imacasa head that I've been slimming down off and on for quite some time now and I think once I get the handle thinned out to match then they'll make a good combo. Heading down to the family camp for a day or two so I'll snap pics when I'm back.

The massive knob sounds like a good thing. They are usually too small from all manufacturers. They gave you something to work with.

Got a 32" axe handle from Link recently from a Grain & feed store. nice looking hickory like what they use for their boys axe handles.

Yeah I'd rather them put too much wood on than too little, as I can always pare it down! This thing feels like it's made out of lead it's so heavy, though! :D

I picked up a couple of their hammer handles at an Ace Hardware a few months ago and the quality seemed good. I was amazed to find an octagonal handle for my rock hammer in stock. Plus they had a wax finish which was much easier to sand off than a lacquer finish.

Yeah they offer several grades, and a couple of them (including their highest grade) use a wax finish. :)

My local hardware store carries Link handles. I've picked up several so far, all with good grain orientation, and weight. Mine had a poly coat that had to come off, but that was easy.

I was surprised at the 2 link handles I got from Ace hardware today. Nice grain and easy to sand and boiled linseed oil them. One was for my boy's axe and the other my claw hammer, the knob on the axe handle was very pronounced. ;)
