No pics yet but I had to make at least a quick post for now. Got a sample handle from Seymour/Link and it's a real club.
Very nice dense wood and absolutely milky white, but dang is it heavy. That's ok, though--it gives me a lot of material to shave down to suit, and the knob is massive with kind of an odd long form to it but I think it was possibly intended for you to haft the axe and then cut the end into a proper fawn's foot? There's enough material there for that at any rate. Should make a fun project at least. I've got an Imacasa head that I've been slimming down off and on for quite some time now and I think once I get the handle thinned out to match then they'll make a good combo. Heading down to the family camp for a day or two so I'll snap pics when I'm back.
