I really like the look of the new G10 handles on the 379 Solo and the 382 Trapper... They come with Stainless Steel Bolsters...
The ones with woodgrain handles come with Nickel Silver Bolsters... ...

379 and 382...

Sorry about the pics... :)

These two are on my 2014 buy list. I collect the Chinese 370 and 380 series slipjoints.

I like the look of them. Are they U.S. made?

The 370 and 380 series slippies are part of the import line.

Does that say 420j2?!?

420HC is not an official steel designation and is specially made for Buck domestically.
420J2 is the steel closest to domestic 420HC available internationally and is used in Bucks China knives.

So all Chinese Bucks are 420j2?

Believe so, since about 2010 or so I think.

Edit: checked the catalog and 420J2 shows up in 2009

I think imafritz has it right, the more recent ones are. A number of my China 300 series from 07-08 period have 420HC marked on the back of the clam pack. I have 1 ChinaBuck fixed blade model 728 "White Tail Deer" with a 2004 date code marked 440C.

Wow, thats cool, although I think it is chinese heat treated 440c per Buck formula/process, not by Buck themselves. That is the case with the 420HC. I thought the other common was 440A, thats what my 1st nobleman was. Wasnt impressed.

If Buck ever moves production of these back home I will pick up a couple for sure.

Pick one of the 300 series 301, 303, 305, 309 or 310 if you want a USA made slipjoint pocket knife......
the 370/380 series knives are the imports...... admittedly, there are more model variations in the import line...
Something for everyone.

As I understand it none of the knives Buck has made in China were made here, they were started over there so they can't "technically" bring back something that was never made here in the first place. That being said they are very nice knives and a real bargain. Those G10 models will for sure be additions to my collection.

. :jerkit: Uh OK

Not sure why you decided to respond in this fashion? All I did was provide you with the facts. If Buck never made the knife here and ever stop their overseas production it's a possibility that you won't be able to get one period since it was never made here. Just trying to share some knowledge/insight. Guess that was a mistake on my part

The changes really change the Trappers... I like the G-10 with the blue spacers. I don't care where it's made, I will probably still buy one.

Me too Mike, that one is really cool. :) I wish it was made here, but neither is my laptop. ;)

If it came in a clam pack as a set with the 379 at that store everyone loves to hate,I'd buy two.
