My favorite Busse handle shape has always been that of the SHBA. I've often wondered what the SHBA would feel like with a 6+" blade. I saw a picture a few years back of a stripped SHBA and a 3B2 laid out next to each other. The 3B2 handle appeared very similar in overall shape to the SHBA. I decided to pick up a 3B2 and after arrival I got out my sharpie and started marking off what I wanted removed.

I sent it off to Randucci to modify it. I thought you all would like to see his excellent work!

Besides the obvious, I had him flatten out the thumb hump, stock G-10 scales removed and thicker black canvas put on, usable finger choil added.
Balances at the first tube. Feels great in hand!

I don't know who these 2 blades belong to or who took the photo but this picture got the wheels turning. I hope whoever took the picture is OK with me posting it. If not, let me know and I'll remove it.

Took it out for a spin today and very pleased! I think it's safe to say that this is my Busse grail!

Chops very well holding the back end of the handle. Breezed thru this dead oak in about 5 minutes.

Choke up and make use of the new finger choil for some fuzz sticks.

Rides nice on the hip. Not too big and not too small.

Paired up with my Hawk, good set of tools for days in the woods!

Wow! I took that pic. I think I have two or three more from different angles on a SD chip somewhere.

To be honest I took that pic to do exactly what it inspired you to do. I wanted to have the 3B2 ground down to match the SHBA. I even posted a copy of it that I had chopped on the computer to have the hump removed. I think I took it down a little further than yours and also left the BB so it would be a BBSHBA.

I did end up selling the 3B2 before any modding to fund a different project but I do still have the SHBA.

Awesome job on the 3B2. It looks great. I now wish I had kept mine an gone through with it.

Wow awesome work, Grind-ducci is getting pretty good at grinding

An awesome knife made into YOUR awesome knife , great idea and the work speaks for itself. Thanks for the pics , another knife I think I need now....

That's some pretty awesome work mate! I love the concept and hats off to Randucci for the flawless execution.

Congrats on your new blade!

That SHBA is a keeper! I found your picture thru a Google search. Post up the additional pictures here if you find them. A tubed INFI badger is eye-candy to me!

.

Thanks for the complements guys. I had a few snow days last week from work so I was able to finish up Chris's 3B2. He had a great idea and it feels good in the hand. Here is a comparison picture I took:

I had enough time to also finish up this Trace Rinaldi Armageddon I had got at a local gun show that didn't have a handle. I finished up the grinds and added the black canvas micarta handle. The blade material is A2 and has a 10" blade, 16 1/2" OAL.

I just checked back through my photobucket account and the original and this chopped one are both still there. After seeing randucci's skills with yours I'm really wishing I had kept it.
