What a crazy idea. I've never tried sharpening a knife on a coffee mug, but I hear about people doing it.

That's 3D printing for you. Come up with a random idea and just make it. You can download the file from the guy for free and print it yourself, or have it printed on one of the web services like shapeways.com and have them print it and ship it to you.

From the page:

Print this and attach it to the bottom of a ceramic mug. If your mug is slightly smaller, wrap it with some electrical tape.
It holds a knife at a 20 degree angle so that it gets honed by the ring of unglazed ceramic on the mug.
Have fun with it! Please feel free to add to it and improve.

Hmm... I haven't given much thought to the 3d printers, but really, the possibilties are endless.

Very neat.

It's not really endless, though it certainly does open up design and manufacturing physical items to the masses who don't have a workshop. I've been 3D printing SAK scales :)

Here's a couple other cool EDC things I've found recently.
