does 3m fire barrier sealant work for a hamon? im told furnace cement and is this the same thing?

Fire caulk (intumescent sealant) is designed to expand with heat to close gaps, eliminating smoke and heat spread. I’d imagine using it for a hamon would not only be messy, but the desired look may not be achieved due to the expansion.

Been using the stuff for years and luckily have never seen it in action, so honestly I can’t say for sure if it would work or not.

1) I don't know, but it sounds like a terrible idea for the reasons enumerated by Aflac
2) It most definitely is completely different.
Fire barrier sealant is a latex rubber caulk
Furnace cement is a ceramic.

I’m a Stock removal maker so? I’m fairly sure they aren’t even close from hanging out with Forgers. I suggest you ask this in the Knife maker, Shop Talk forum. Frank, or another one of the mods can move your question & you can tell these guys what you’re trying to accomplish.. Stay Safe & have fun!
