3M rep is KILLING ME!!

OK,
I've had enough!! I'm sure that everyone will agree that 3M abrasive products are top notch!! I just wish there reps were nearly as good as their abrasives!!
My grinders are set up to run 108" belts, I know they must be custom ordered and I understand that this takes time. I'm also prepaired to order in quantity where I would think it would make it worth while for them to to business with me!!!
I was promissed my "test" belts almost two weeks ago and I guess the 3M rep is still driving around Florida with them in his trunk

I would appreciate anyones suggestions for a reliable 3M distributor. I'm going to give Tru-Grit a call now.
Thanks in advance from one highly POed Dr.Lathe!!

Rob,
A 2X72 is out of the question. I get lots of free 108" roughing belts from my full time employer that are barely used!!
Maybe I'll just leave everything finished with a 36 grit belt and say the hell to 3M!!

Just buy yourself a cutter and splicer settup and either make your own 108's or buy a 2x72 machine and use the splicer to cut down the 108's to 72's...IMO the variety of belts available, non special order, for the 2x72 makes up for a lot of those free belts.

Just some ideas...

if you don't mind using belts other than 3M than you can call supergrit, they are awesome. They most likely have your funky size belts in stock, and if not im sure they could get you some.

DAMM,
Just lost my entire post

Allen,
Please go into more detail about belt splicing!! Does 3M or other companies sell their belt material in bulk rolls?? What I'm mainly interested in the Trizact and 36 grit roughing belts. Who sells the splicing equipment?? Will you be in Atlanta??
Thanks in advance

AJ1,
They are an option but my belts would be a custom order with them also.

Neil I know there is a company somewhere that sells splicing kits, I just dont have any idea where I saw them...

Most of the abrasive companys will sell you a 500 foot roll of 2 inch wide abrasive tape.. I dont know about trizac but I have seen 3M regalite in a big roll, and Klingspor abrasives sells all of its abrasives in roll form, and you can choose which grit and backing you would like...

I will be at Atlanta, but I dont know if I will be of much more help there...

Thanks Allen!
I'll make some phone calls and see what I can find. My 3M sample belts will be here tomorow, drop dead, guaranteed!!! The funny thing is that I already knew what finishing belts I wanted but the rep INSISTED he provide me with some trial belts first. The only one I will get tomorow that I've never used before is 3M's new ceramic 36 grit. I should have just insisted on ordering what I needed in the first place.
