Will the standard G10 RC3 scales fit on a 3MIL?

I desire an orange handled black bladed 3MIL. So I plan on purchasing both, swapping scales, and selling the RC3.

Will this work? Or is there an easier way of obtaining this 3MIL configuration?

yes it will work the fit might not be perfect though.

no other way to get it that i know of.

the canvas scales look really good on the od blade too. i did that to a 4 with 3mil canvas scales fit great.

I ordered my Izula scales from Dale on Wednesday at lunch time. Had order confirmation and shipping confirmation within an hour. They were in my mailbox today. Lots of great vendors around here but a big +1 for Dale.

I just ordered that exact knife. Hoping it will be here today.

Maybe I'll swap around the scales with my ESEE-4's G10 and take some pics for you guys.

Well I have to thank 5.56 for the motivation :thumbup:

Swapped the scales between my RC-3MIL and my OD RC-3S.

The fit is perfect after the swap on both knives.

The 3MIL gets the most use and I really like the orange scales.

I swapped the sheaths as well.

The orange really does look better on the black and the OD looks great with the canvas micarta.
I like the change up of the sheaths as well.

I have the opposite problem - I don't like the G10 scales on my ESEE4...

sounds like a trade opportunity to me...


I'm really liking the G10 on the black mil. Not sure how I feel about the micarta on the OD blade. Guess I'll have to see it in person. ;)
 
Dale at The Knife Connection is offering a variety of non-factory G10 scales for the ESEE-4. I know the scales on the 3 and 4 are similar in size, but I'm not sure if they'll interchange though. Someone else would have to confirm that. Not sure if these will fit the 3MIL either due to the sharpened pommel.

They're a tad different in design because they cover the entire pommel. Call Dale and ask him and he'd be able to tell you for sure if these would work or not. If you can wait, I know Dale said in another thread they're working on versions of these for the 3 and they're not too far off.

These do come in the orange color you want though. Check them out.

since the 3 is made of thinner stock than the 4 you would need liners inside Dale's custom handles to make up the difference in thickness.
