Hello Bladeforums,

I have officially caught the bug. I have been lurking in the shadows of the forums for sometime now. The creativeness has always been in me but man i never thought it would become what it has and i have only made 3 complete knives. I have a lot of templates and screwups for the scrap bucket and stuff that just didnt look right. I really like this style that i tweaked for my own. I would like some constructive criticism on it.

The knife is a spinoff of a bushcraft blade. It has been made for personal use. The grind on the knife makes it very useful and sharp!!!! I also made the sheath and finally got the kydex makeup looking nice!! Here are some of the specs:

Blade Material: 1080+ carbon steel heat treated by me

Handle Material: Coyote Brown and black G10

Blade Thickness 1/8 inch

Blade Length: 4 inches

Blade Grind: 10 degree scandi grind.

Overall Knife Length: 9inches

The knife was used this weekend while camping to test out so that is the discoloration on the tip. I hand sanded the whole knife to 400 grit and then buffed on a buffing wheel. I would like to know what everyone thinks more of the design then anything. Thanks in advance I will post more pictures of the knife if there is interest?!

Thank you to you all. The spine of the knife and the scales sealed properly also. I have a few questions though. So on a style of knife like this do you think that there is enough room on the handle for a lanyard hole? Also do any of you have problems with the scale liners that are made out of the thick cardboard material. When shaping the handles after gluing i always seem to be missing a chunk of the liner somewhere on the handle so this was the first one i did not use liners.

I have had whole knives that i missed a chunk of that approximately the size of a pinhead and stripped the handle and the knife is still hanging on the "TO DO" wall. Your input from you more experienced blade smiths would be great. Thank you for your help ahead of time!!

The paper type liner material is not as popular as it used to be. There are better materials now available, like thin G-10 and phenolic liner material that has much less problems.
