Here are a couple of pics of my latest effort, a tanto blade. Convex grinds. Did the majority of the grinding on the grinder, then draw filed to smooth the transitions out, then backto the grinder to really slowly bring in the plunge, which I did on the slack belt area of my Coote. Still had a decent dig in the blade as you can see in the picture, but I'm happy with the way things are progressing. Flat grinding is still a mystery to me! Anyway, comments welcome!
Oh, and the heat treat... I attempted to wrap the harened part all the way around to include the entire false edge, but it didn't happen. That dip that comes close to the edge, too, is due to not having enough heat in that portion of the blade. I'm really annoyed by this, and my next big project is to get a coffee can forge or one brick forge put together so I can evenly and adequately heat this steel up.
