Last nights activities went a little longer than planned!
So here are my thoughts...
I must admit that when we got our first look and feel of the Bushmasters - The Ironwood version just called to me.
It was not just because of the great looking slabs Dan put on it either.
It was the tapered tang.
The tapered tang changes the balance point dramatically and the way it balanced and the positioning of the weight and the way it flowed in the hand was just "Right" for the workout that I put it through.
We all have different opinions and different expectations of what we need a knife to do and how we expect it to react when we make it work.
I set out to run the knife through a typical camping / bushcraft exercise.
1) section wood pieces
2) baton kindling pieces.
3) fuzzy stick
4) simple carving and notching
5) drill holes
6) firesteel striker
First up:
The frozen dried maple branch.
I chose a chunk of dried frozen maple about 2" in diameter to section off for kindling.

The Bushmaster made light work of taking off a section of the maple to turn into kindling:
