So over the past few years I have had several CRK knives cross my hands. It was always obvious that they were incredibly well built knives, however, they were never my cup of tea so I always ended up trading/selling them. Recently I received an umnum in a trade (3rd one to come by me) and for some reason I absolutely love it! Hasn't left my pocket in the week or so its been here. BTW they have all been old school zaans, I think it might have something to do with the tension of the lock bar but my mem of the other zaans may not be that precise, perhaps my taste has changed?

Anyway thought I would share, I'll get some pics up soon.

Same way for me. Sold the first two Sebbies. Keeping the third. Nothing special about the third vs previous two though. Different expectations maybe?

I guess I should get a different Zaan. I CANNOT close the blade one-handed. Would be really nice. Never suspected that lock-bar tension might change from one Zaan to another Zaan.
Interesting...thank you.

The one I have is very easy to disengage. One way to make sure it's not you pushing down on the lock bar is to try unlocking with your left hand. That said the other zaans I had were stiffer and caused some displeasure on the thumb when unlocking, however, they were no where near impossible to open one handed.

Exactky Jball! congrats on the Zaan! I hope you keep it----sounds like you will!

Old pivot no LBS zaans take getting used to. Have to train your thumb (and break it in lol) as well as make sure you aren't putting tension on the lock bar whatsoever......
