As most of you know I'm not a 110 collector by any means, But I can spot a deal on a Buck knife when I see one. Recently I snatched up a Buck 110 folding Hunter, that was said to be New In the Box. It appeared to be as described, having no cosmetic or mechanical flaws the proper two piece box and the correct leather sheath and paperwork. It is a two line stamp reading BUCK USA, it has 2 brass scale pins and a brass rocker pin. My question is obviously the worth of the 40 some odd year old knife. I can estimate with in $20 the value of a 100 series fixed blade but my experience determining the value of a 110 is substandard. Any help would be great.

I would be interested to here other peoples opinions about this too! I'm thinking depending on the variation and where it's sold...anywhere from 65 to 85 dollars.

It might help to know which variation you have. If the stamp is on the right side, the knife is variation 9. If the stamp is on the left, look at the butt rivets to see how many are visible on the left and on the right. If the knife has been highly polished, that might be hard to see.

In any case, you probably got a good deal. New in box with sheath and paperwork doesn't come along very often for any of the variations. As you know, market value depends on the market; if someone has to have that particular knife to fill a gap in their collection, the price can get pretty high. The only 3rd version I have that is new in box with sheath and papers is a variation 1. I paid about $300 for that and thought the price was pretty good. Of course I wanted to fill a gap in my collection, and the variation 1 knives aren't as common as some of the later variations.

Without knowing which variation you have, I would give you somewhere in the neighborhood of $175 or more, sight unseen.

My guess is that you are going to get a wide range of prices from people who respond to your question.

Matt,

When the dust has settled, let us know roughly how good a deal you got.

It should be delivered today and I will comment on it then. In the pictures it wasn't all polished up and in the description it was said to having been sitting sense he got it. I will look at the bolster pins and determine the variation.
Thanks Matt

Matt please post pictures we need to know , I need to know , funny how the USPS moves even slower when your waiting on a knife .

i've bought three of these nib with papers & sheath, not touched up at all off an auction site for under 85 dollars...i must have scored a few bargins myself.

I just got the knife from the PO Box and it appears to be a later variation of version 3. It's either a variation 8 or possibly a variation 9. You can see the bolster pins (both the pivot and both butt pins) on both sides. I cleaned the brass up a bit to be able to identify the pins. The paperwork is undated but it has the orange "Attention" leaflet, so i'm guessing it's a variation 9, going by Joe's sticky at the top of the Buck page. The knife, paperwork, box and tissue paper are all in new condition and I will post pics in a few minutes.

Thanks guys, I got a great ball park range for this knife and sold it as fast as it did when I hit the Buy It Now Button.
