Is 3v that expensive that busse is requiring the cost be subsidized when the order is placed? Was infi that cheap to make that they didn't do it for that? Just overthinking everything.

I believe it is just part of the Swamp Rat "New Business Model" from two years ago;

After much deliberation, we have made some fundamental changes to the Swamp Rat business model.

We believe that these changes will help us to deliver the best blades to the customer in a timely manner with an emphasis on quality and price!

1. Many of our future offerings will be presented as computer generated, 3D models and will be as close as possible to the finished product.

2. With the exception of blades regularly available on our website, most of our future offerings from Swamp Rat will be pre-order only.
There are no guarantees that any upcoming knives will become available on a regular basis.

3. More than likely, very few, if any future models will ship immediately.
Completion of most new projects will likely take a minimum of 10 to 14 weeks but may ship sooner depending on quantity/complexity/workload.

4. New releases from Swamp Rat will be offered one of two ways.

A.) Down Payment with balance due upon completion. *

B.) Fully prepaid. *

* You can cancel your order at any time and get a full refund. In order to keep production and processing costs low however, those who repeatedly cancel orders may not be eligible to place additional pre-orders.
You are allowed to change your available order options (Blade finish and handle material) as long as we are not past that point in the production process.

Inch per inch infi/3v seem around the same price, latest 7inch 3v knife at 360 seems like a very good price imo

Tougher the material, the more equipment/time it takes. Idk if 3v compares to infi. All the infi I have laughs at abuse. I'd love if someone reputable compared similar blades with both for wear/durability.

Most of what I own is infi for busse. I have sr101, and elmax. One Abel. Of those, the Abel is the least impressive by a long shot.

Infi is my favorite. I've taken a sledge hammer to a ds6 in spruce. And the ds6 begged for more while calling me a whimp.

Chopped bones of whole animals, and she laughed.

I might need to chop tool steel to make her whimper.

There are videos out there comparing them...

Busse has their own 3V test videos for the Free Rein, etc. I doubt you can seriously damage either steel without intentionally trying to break a blade.
