Hey all! Finally got around to finishing this one up. This is the biggest blade and only tanto (with a tsuba) I have done in this Hartsfield style finish/grind. The high performance CPM 3V blade is 12" long.

The grind is a little different. At a glance it looks normal, but part of the Shobu zukuri grind/blade, specifically my interpretation of it, is a narrowing bevel to the point. While subtle in the photo it is more noticeable in hand. The blade also has a nice distal taper from the tsuba all the way to the point. The tang is also tapered. This lends to a very well balanced blade that is lighter than it looks.
Unlike my normal flat spine with fuller, this one is rounded and polished. The tsuba is 6al4v titanium and one of my new designs, I call this one the "spiro" pattern.
Under the wrap is some very nice burgandy stingray and heat anodized/hammered Ti menuki.
The sheath is aluminum wrapped beautiful elephant leather and lined with kevlar.

Thanks for looking!!

Super cool!

Love everything about it (but I'm no Lycosa, so I'd probably go with a different color under the wrap, If I had a handfull of money to waive under your nose to make another!).

Not that I don't like the color, but I'm pretty partial to tan/brown, etc.

You have done a few handles in that color if I remember correctly, that just tickled my fancy!

I love the color and texture of the hide wrap on the sheath.

Ben,
that is a great interpretation of the style. I am impressed, not that it is out of the ordinary for your level of work, but in that is a great looking package. Seriously, that is good work all around.

It has definitely caught my eye. Just what I had been looking for.

Yes I have some nice brown stingray I have used in the past.
