I finished this one months ago, but am only thinking to post it here. This is a 4” kwaiken in Crucible CPM-154FM, a fine grain, high purity melt that Crucible made just before CPM Magnacut was released and rendered every other stainless steel effectively obsolete 🤣.

Had a little fun with the details. Just a touch of sori to the profile. The primary bevel is hollow ground and mirror polished on a 10” wheel, the swedge is hollow ground on a 2” wheel to a near-zero edge and is also mirror polished. The spine and squidgey bit under the ricasso are faceted, and all flat surfaces feature a hand satin finish. The mirror finish with this steel is staggeringly smooth - it looks like mercury. Getting decent photos of it was obscenely difficult, which was yet another reason to send it to SharpByCoop SharpByCoop and let him deal with it.😁

The tapered and skeletonized tang has been built up with contoured leather, and the entire circumference of the handle has been wrapped in red stingray skin so it doesn’t feel like a piece of bar stock.

The gorgeous matched slip sheath was made by my bride.

I'm not a fixed blade guy but your work is stunning. Think about making a folder; I bet it will be amazing.

That's a killer piece, Matt. Not an extravagant design, but the lines are perfect and the finish impeccable. Fine work! I imagine it's spoken for?

Uh oh, call incoming from Dudley! You know he is a black/red kinda guy. Great piece, Matt and Jill.

Thanks! I’m not sure I’m interested in pursuing folders. At least, I’m not sure where I’d have a voice in that arena, yet. Very little of what I see appeals to me, and the collector crowd doesn’t make much sense to me. I don’t even know what the hell ‘drop-shutty’ means. ;)

Thanks, man. This one went to a good friend. :)

The Groom does excellent work and the Bride truly compliments the knife with a unique and elegantly designed sheath!
Very cool
