I'm going to keep making these things till I get it right dangit! :D This one has a D2 blade(around Rc61) and spring, 410 SS liners and bolsters, SS pinned shield and pins and SS lanyard tube. The handle material was good to work with and I think it looks really nice on this knife. This knife has a half-stop and the spring is flush with the liners in all three positions. The tang is also flush with the end of the bolsters in the closed position.

Kerry,

Looks great, I think the denimascus does match the style perfect. I think you are getting things very right.

Really nice, Kerry. I really like the federal shield on this design. The fibermascus looks excellent on there. Did you get it straight from Gary? Nice guy, isn't he? :)

Looks very nice, BUT you know a knife maker must always keep improving.

Thanks for the kudos! I picked the handle material up second hand but this is the guy that makes it http://www.fibermascus.com/ I was happy with the way it finishes out. This didn't polish up like Micarta would but I don't have a problem with that.

Hey Mike,
Bias ply is a type of weaving. Typical blue jeans are a good example. Look how much lighter they are on the insides. Also notice how there is an apearance of diagonal lines in the cloth. Threads are woven at an angle / diagonally (said to be at a bias-typical cloth just has a series of parallel threads woven perpendicular to each other), which increases the strength quite a bit. I'm no expert, but this is how I understand it. I suppose houndstooth fabrics would be another example.

BTW, Kerry, great looking knife!

Thanks for the weave info and the positive comments. There was one pesky image that didn't want to load that I have fixed now. I appreciate all the looks and feedback from everyone. Making knives is a hoot and I would encourage anybody interesting in knives to give slip joints a try. After my 5th one now, I'm just now starting to get the feel for some of the minor points that you have to be mindful of during the building process.

That has to be one of the nicest folders I've seen in a while. It is perfect. That denim is great on that style of knife.
