4" blade, Kydex sheath, which to get?

I am looking for a tactical style knife
blade approximately 4 inches
overall length about 8 inches
kydex or cordura sheath.

I want it to replace my Cold Steel Mini Culloden (remember those?) which is the fully serrated version. It's got a 3.5" blade, looking for a blade just slightly longer. 4 inches or so, plain edge preferable, $100.00 or under.

So I bought a CS Brave Heart, it arrived today.
I'm not terribly impressed with it.
Probably will sell it.
The Mini Culloden is a much nicer knife, IMO.

So what else is there?

The Ontario in D2 has a blade which is is bit too short.
I have a Spyderco Temperance but I'd like something with a smaller handle.
The new SOG Seal Pup Elite looks pretty nice; blade is about an inch too long.
BM Nimravus is also a bit too long.
Nimravus Cub is a possibility.
I like the BM fixed Snody, but the blade is a little too short.
Maybe a fixed Griptilian?
(BTW, does not have to be stainless.)

Any help would be appreciated!

I would say the Ritter MKIII would be cool, as is the Gerber Yari, the Spyderco Temperance, and the Benchamde Nimravus.

Personally, one of my favorite knives in that class is the Mora 2000. It is ~$25 or so, and you can get Eric from On-Scene Tactical to make you up a great sheath. I had Allan Blade whip me up a kydex sheath for one of mine, carries real nice.

Of the tactical types, I like the Gerber Yari. Dr. Trier did a nice review of one some time ago if you can find it online.

How about the Spyderco Kumo? A little more than your budget but a great little knife.

The fullsize Culloden is only 4.75". Would you rather have one of those?

Hey Guys,,,

Some pretty good suggestions..

The BM/Snody Resistor is an Awesome little knife..Stout blade, Nicely made...

The Nim and Nim Cub are nice,, but blade is a little thin for my liking...

KT.. Thanks for the plug..:)

Click on the link at the bottom and check out some of my available knives. I think one of my Jade green G-10 utility knives might fit your needs. I have one with serrations on the top and one plain.

Thanks for the ideas guys.

Esav, the Kumo is a great suggestion but I"m not a big fan of cord wrapped handles.

Yes, I would very much like a full size Culloden, if you know of any that are available please let me know.

I'll check out the Ritter and Gerber, though Gerber is not one of my first choices.
Coincidentally though my first folder was a Gerber Folding Sportsman back in the 70's. Made in Portland Oregon. (Obviously years before Pete sold to Fiskars.)

knifetester and Normark thanks for the Mora suggestion and the others.

CHAINS, I'm sure you love your Gryphon M10;); I'd really like to keep this under a hundred bucks.
BTW, a Camillus CQB2 would be nice but there don't seem to be any of those around.

The Snody Resistor is at the head of the pack right now it seems, but I'm looking forward to checking out all this info.

Thanks again

Scott, I went to your homepage and yes that Jade Green in 0-1 is really the sort of knife I have in mind. For this particular purchase though I'm looking to stay in a certain range.

Ok, get a CRKT Companion.Sturdy little knife but a so-so sheath(plastic).I wear mine IWB with the factory sheath. It holds the knife securely and is easy to access.I paid about $35.00 for it.

The BM Nimravus Cub is really good knife and it comes with a good kydex and some practical accessories at the Benchmade site.

Lots of custom makers out there that can make you up something for 100 bucks or so.

I bought one, thanks for the recommendation.

It's not exactly what I'm looking for, but in the interim I think it'll do.

I'll probably end up with a Greco or something along those lines.
