I am going to purchase one more blade...then lay off for a while (my knife and gun addiction seems to be causing problems at home)

I can spend up to $200.00 (self imposed limit). I already own a HTM "Darrel Ralph" Gunhammer.

Looking for "supersteel"!!

Suggestions please...Thank you much!!

You can save a lot of money and still get a blade that will cut about anything, including your fingers with 1095, and get the wife a good gift and live happily ever after.:D

Blessings,

Spyderco Military with M390. You can probably find one on the Exchange ANIB for about $200.

I'd get something in either CPM-M4 or M390, as for M390 under $200 I'd go for a BM 581, in M4, either the BM 810 as mentioned before or Spyderco Gayle Bradley.

There is an upcoming Spyderco military sprint in Cruwear. That is about as rare as hens teeth and hasn't been seen in a folder since Gerber in the 80's made a Sportsman 2 in Vascowear ( same as cruwear but discontinued and now made by crucible as Cruwear).

Other than not being very corrosion resistant it is a very tough, wear resistant steel used as an upgrade to D2. I love the stuff and have since the Gerber days, and find the performance of the Cruwear Spyderco mule one of the best cutlery steels I've ever tried. Spyderco ran it between rc 62 & 63 and no, it's not chippy like a high carbide stainless would be. As stated, it's tougher than D2. Not up to 3V or infi standards for choppers but I prefer it overall.

As mentioned above the Gayle Bradley in M4 is outstanding, or, a BM 581 in M390. Both are usually closer to the $100 price point if you get one of either that is slightly used...

Maybe it's just me, but I got from the OP the idea that he's looking for a fixed blade.

Anyhow, Bark River has some nice smaller knives in 3v.

+1 on the CPM-M4. My favorite steel, hands down. And the Spyderco Bradley is one classy and tough knife. And a great value for the price.

Thanks a bunch for the suggestions! I really appreciate them.

As for the "causing trouble at home"...You guys know how that goes, something like..."Why did you need to buy that (fill in the blank, rifle , pistol, knife, tackle box, etc.) when you already have more than you need?" Sometime she does have a good point. I do have more than I need, just not as many as I want!!

Anyhow, I thought that I would buy "one more" knife for a while (month or two, I don't know). Something I don't have, in a steel I don't own.

The CPM-M4 sounds good. Think I'll look there first.
