No, it's not a truck. :p (I crack my self up. Really, I do.)

Rather, it's a series of hunters that Dan had available (for 15 or 20 nanoseconds) at the Reno show.

The knives feature some of Dan's traditional embellishments such as carved and stippled handles. As well as some new stuff, like tasteful engraving and skeletonized butt caps. Anyone that thinks a wood handled carbon steel hunter can't be rendered in absolutely first class presentation grade should take a lingering look.

And to the lucky owners - if you happen to be blindingly drunk and inclined to sell, I'm buyin'! :D

I have a good friend that has been touting Dan's work to me for a long time. He picked one of these up at Reno and sent me some photos. I really need to get on Dan's list!

Roger, thanks as always for posts that are actually relevant to knife collecting and fine knives.

Wow. When the heck did he learn to engrave?

Dan's knives just keep getting better and better, and he's continually broadening and refining his skills. That's the sign of a great craftsman. Three years ago he was still a relative newcomer - imagine what he'll be doing in another three years!

Wow! .. Really beautiful work. These knives show a kind of individuality and freedom of art. What a beautiful set. I love how the handles are treated, with the carving.

Thanks for posting the pics, Roger. ..they would be on my wish list too.

I really like how his style is maintaining a unique direction. Hunters can sometimes be a bit cookie-cutter looking to me - not in Dan's case!

Simply stunning. I've been a big fan of the more tribal-looking knives as of late (still am), but those hunters have shown me what I've been missing. Thanks, RogerP!

Win,

Pretty sure that Dan is backlogged about three years or more, and is not taking orders at this time.

If you are interested in his work, I STRONGLY recommend going to Reno. It is still a somewhat under attended show, and if you are first in line to get in, you have a better chance of getting a knife directly from Dan.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

First let me comment on Eric's photos--they are spectacular. Well-worth the efforts of Dan's knives.

Plain wood hunters? These are in another league. Very appealing.

I am intrigued with the combination of grinds, and the differing choil treatment. It appears the radiused bevels are a combination of grinds (flat and hollow? Bevel? Hmmmmmmm.........)

Thanks Roger. Congrats to the owners.

Whoa!!!!! amazing knives. Buthow did he get those skeleonized buttcaps to stick? When you see them on high end guns, they usualy have 2 visible screws

Roger,

Thanks for posting these photos. Dan's knives just get better and better.

Wow! Simply stunning examples of Farr awesomeness. I got a pool of drool here that would amaze even Danbo!:D

I think Dan is one of the best at wood handles, blades aren't bad either, very nice work!!!

I have a stag handled camp knife by Dan.:)

Owned one of the walnut handled camp knives, and sold it, to a very happy collector. Dan's handles are as beautiful, and the finish as fragile, as that on the finest of English shotguns. He uses/has used, like a bazillion coats of Birchwood-Casey Tru Oil.

The wood handles would be absolutely perfect, IMO, if Dan would use stabilized woods, requiring no finishing other than a quick buff, but Dan says they look and work too much like "plastic", and he likes the depth of finish to bring out the 3-D qualities of the wood.

The guy does a VERY serviceable sheath, as well.

Ooooh look at those perfectly curved plunges...my new love. id like to see these same knives with some nice checkering...not just the standard checkering, but some fancy patterns with doublecuts, etc.

or do like the shotgun guys do. Checker the wood showing through the open spots on the buttcap

Beautiful Hunters. I had a chance to meet Dan for the first in Reno. Great guy. Really enjoyed handling his knives, especially his personnel hunter that I believe he said he had hunted with on several continents over the years.

Roger,
Thanks for posting,
beautiful hunters.
His sig is originality.
Would love to see what he could do in a little clip fighter.
Congrats to new owners.
