Jury selection begins today in Deland Fl. This is truly one of the most horrible mass slaying I've ever heard of. Over something so trivial !

Deltona is a bedroom community for Dayrona & Orlando & has become the largest city in the county in just a few years. I believe they're over 100,000 now.

One thing that interested me tremendously was the quote from sheriff Ben Johnson.
" They had no time or means of defending themselves ".

A simple .22 revolver laying on their coffee table could have made all the difference in the world.
Things were done to the victims that were not reported. Use your imagination !

I live in a relatively safe area of Florida - Sarasota. However, I always keep a pistol within reasonable reach (if I don't happen to be carrying it.) Having to wonderful little boys under the age of 4 makes it kinda tough to have anything just sitting on the table though.

Point is, It is foolish to not do what you can to ensure your ability to defend yourself. But it sounds like the folks who got whacked (pun intended) were overwhelmed almost immediately. Lock your doors folks. Home invasions are not just in bad areas of town anymore.
