Anyone know of a folder that's under 4" closed with full G10 or Micarta scales and under $75 that's NOT the Kershaw S30V/G10 Leek? I couldn't find any others aside the Leek. Thanks.

Oh, and no Byrds.:) sorry, forgot to mention that. I'm looking for a thumbstud.

rifon2 - Actually, I'm open to Micarta...I didn't think any Micarta folders were under $75.

tom19176 - Looking for FULL G10 or Micarta scales. Not interested in inlays, thanks.

The CRKT Contrail comes in 2 sizes and has G10 scales. I've bought a few of these and they are decent knives that are very light. They've been discontinued and can be had for $25 or less if you shop around.

If you are willing to try carbon fiber or rosewood scales, Lone Wolf Harsey T1 fits the bill nicely. If you shop around, I've seen them for $74.95.

Kershaw Avalanche is pretty good knife, but it may be just a bit over $75 - about $85 on NG.

Thanks, Vassili

You might look at the Kershaw Gentlemans knife w/G-10 & VG-10. Also the Byrd (Chinese Spyderco) G-10 Cara Cara...

Benchmade Vex - blade is about 3.25", thumbhole, G10 scales, linerlock. Available for <$60 shipped from numerous Web retailers.

It has an overall positive reputation here on BF. I just got one less than a month ago and it replaced a 154CM Mini-Grip as my EDC. Built like a tank but doesn't feel like I'm carrying a TV remote in my pocket (the way I feel with a Buck Strider or similar larger folder).

tidefan - hmm, the buck/strider mini is a bit more than I'm looking to spend.

flip - Contrail looks interesting. How's the blade steel? Seems pretty soft (low RC)? I'm not really digging the CRKT word on the handle, but otherwise looks pretty nice. I'm just questioning the blade steel.

sharp-one - Ooh, that Lone Wolf Harsey T1 CF looks quite nice. I'll look around for a lower price on that one! One thing the concerns me tho is the grippiness of the CF. Do you happen to know how the CF scales feel? Would they be slippery when wet?

Vassili - I handled the Avalanche...nice and I like the G10 scales, but it's larger than what I want handle-wise.

babakanoosh - not really digging the gent's knife.

MG_Saldivar - I looked at the Vex before, but I'm not a big fan of hole opens...I prefer thumbstuds. Plus, it's a bit larger than I'm looking for right now.

rifon2 - I'm really digging that MCusta MC12! And I like the SC-104S Bob Lum Encounter too. Not feeling the Al Mar tho.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions! Right now, I think the MCusta MC12 is leading the pack, followed by the Lone Wolf Harsey T1 CF and Bob Lum Encounter.
