I just got in four custom folders, all from the same maker in Singapore. These all have horn scales, 2 with finger grooves, two without. The blades are arrived reasonably sharp and came to a shaving edge easily. The all carry a mirror polich. All have an exposed tang at the rear of the knife with a split ring attached for a lanyard and they came in an attractive red velveteen jewelry style box. As far as opening ease I would, on a 1 to 10 scale, rate two at 7 and two at 4. Fit and finish are very good but not perfect with very small gaps showing between the spring and liners. Over all I am very pleased as I have less than $25.00 in each knife. I have purchased several knives from the Far East over the past few months and while the shipping takes time the products have been outstanding. There are more and more of these small custom makers showing up on the "big auction site"...they are worth giving a try.

this does take care of some of my Christmas shopping early...:p

I'd be interested to know how durable those edges are; I'd love to send some business their way for some good handmade carvers.

thx - cpr

ps - are they carbon, or the "S"word? ;) :D

Well, I have one set up for EDC in a small belt sheath and plan on carrying it for awhile, we'll see how does. These are not large knives, they fall into the "gentleman's pocket knife" class in my opinion. they are 3 3/8 closed with a 2 1/4 inch blade. I am using a small sheath simply to keep the horn scales away from pocket loot. with a lanyard and on the belt it is very easy to grab. The blades are supposed to be 440HC but I have now way of testing them...felt like stainless when I touched up the edge tho.
