Went for a hike with a friend and my dog, walked form my house to the nearest volcano (the Barva), 3 nights but felt like only 2. Our objective was to reach the Bava lagoon which is has a diameter of 70m and is 8m deep

Chubbs (the dog) carried his food and some rope in the Ruff Wear Approach Pack, my rucksack is a Vaude expedition rock 45+10 and the flimsy looking sleeping mat was where Chubbs slept

We spent our first night here, in an old abandoned bus up in the middle of nowhere. From now on it will be rememberd as the magic school bus.

Excellent stufff, man! Here is a big fat welcome to bladeforums, and nice work coming to us with this type of stuff in your first 20 posts. I hope to see more of Costa Rica from you. Do you live there year round? Share more with us about who you are... This is cool stuff to see especially when this is the type of stuff that I have around me this time of year. We are getting 18 inches of snow in the next 24 hours here in the North.

Thanks again,

awesome pics! any pics of wild-life? every time i think of costa rica it reminds me of the eyelash pit vipers i sometimes see for sale here...for $400!

Thanks, and thanks for the big fat welcome! Ill be going to northwestern part of CR this weekend with my old man, hope to bring back some nice pictures for every one, the climate is quite different there, much warmer and drier. Yes Ive lived here year round for over 21 years (was born here so tecnically im Costarican). Its funny how I stare with a dropped jaw at couple of the landscape pictures that Ive seen here on BF and really wish I could be there, and then I imagine you guys and gals having similar reactions to my pics, funny how that works...
As for the urinal (and toilet) I laughed my ass of for a good while when I saw it.
The only wild life we saw on this trip were some small birds and a lizard, we spent most of the time well above 2000 meters where its quite cold so there arent many eyelashed pit vipers (I have seen them though but they usually live from sea level to about 1000 meters)

I posted another set of nice pictures a short while ago of a trip I had taken a while ago (yet another volacano, the Rincon de la Vieja)

Sweet pictures man, looks like a fun trip. That bus looks like it was a neat place to make camp.

I like your pot stand setup with the wooden stakes.

Really great pics, and some amazing scenery. Love that lush, green environment!

Thanks so much, you live in a beautiful place. I love that bus reminds me of
Chris McCandless's journey to Alaska. That is a much sadder story, but you can read
more about it in "Into The Wild" by John Krakauer, really a great book.

Anyway thanks for the pictures, I still have not gotten any up of my adventures,
but hopefully that will change soon. I am working on it, O.K.!?

WELCOME TO BLADEFORUMS, by the way.

welcome & thanks for the lush green. pup looks like he has some rhodesian ridgeback in him. cool buddy for the trail & THEY ALWAYS SEEM TO FIND SOME DEAD ANIMAL REMAINS.hopefully we will see lots of you in the forum.--dennis
