4 Dot 110 Question

I have been told that one of the variations with the 4 stamp dots are that some are hand-radiused before the full radiuses models we have now. My question is this. How can you tell they are hand radiuses as opposed to being worn from over buffing or from being put and taken out of sheaths or pockets?

Mitch,
The 110s and 112s with radiused perimeters and square lock release notches indicate the variation that was done in the factory by hand. Later, Buck ordered the frames to have the radiused edge and the supplier rounded the entire perimeter including the lock bar notch.

I know about the square thumb notch, but how radiused is radiused? I have 2 4 dots that appear to be hand radiused but also look like they may be simply worn a little.

Just an idea, but if they are rounded because of wear, the change may not be uniform around the whole perimeter.

Square frame 110s hold their sharp edges for a whole lot of use. Have you ever seen a two dot that had as much of a radius as the four dot you have? That should indicate that it is not easy, but not impossible, to wear off the edges during normal use. Thus it is a very high probability that the knife you have was radiused at the factory.

When I get home tomorrow (if is more like it), I'll take a picture of the knives in question and let the resident brainiacs give their opinions. It may be I don't have any or might have 1 or 2.

Here are some photos of the knives in question.

3 of the 4 4-dot 110's I have. 4th is a finger groove.

This one clearly shows the full radiused on the top and the square thumb notch on the other 2

The next 2 show the bottom 2 knives close-up.

Do I have 1,2,or no hand radiused 4-dot 110's? Thoughts?

In your 1st photo all 3 look radiused on the top of the rear bolster. Then in your 2nd photo the bottom two do not look radiused in the thumb depressed area. Maybe just me. Nice photos. DM

I'd guess hand-radiused.

I think hand-radiused 110s were done in varying degrees based on the worker's personal taste or sometimes, how busy the worker was that day, so they come in all conformations and degrees of radius.

The unradiused, of course, will show varying degrees of wear, so trying to tell what's what is near impossible in some cases.
