Very nice set.

I have to confess, when I started with my interest in custom knives, Fowlers designs did not appeal to me. As I have matured in my tastes, they are very appealing now.

As I have more experience, I care more about how a handle feels in hand, and how the shape of the blade works in use.

Thanks guys!

David

Do you have one of Ed's fighters

Hi Joe,
Yes, one of them.. Maybe two, depending on definition- fighter vs. bowie. It is a great example! (center knife)

Here is an unusual knife i came across online.. Not sure it flatters Ed's work or not, but is worth a look. I dont remember the story about it accurately enough to retell it here.

Very nice David

I handled a similar knife at Blade and was very impressed by it

Thanks for sharing those pictures David
Fowler's is in my wish list, I nearly got it at one time in 2008 but I'd used the fund for the college of my youngest kid and so I missed it :o
Hope I could make my wish knife as a reality in my collections in 2014, amen

$450!! That's a smokin' deal!. It looks like it's been sharpened a few times too many to qualify as "lightly used" but it's still a great score.

When I finally make it to a Blade show, Ed's table is definitely on my short list to visit.

Love them. Acquired taste for his knives but I always enjoyed them and I miss mine!

His video about 16-17 years ago was my first look into how blades are forged.

well every knife of mister fowler it's priceles but if i must pik one i prefer the second one from the top in the second foto, maybe becouse of the blade shape, it reminds me very intense the knives those created in the greek island of skopelos

Thanks Hariklis,
I would sure like to see the skopelos knives you reference. If you have any online link or photo, please do share with us. That second knife, it is Ed's version of the "Woodcraft" style. It has a stout 5 1/2" blade. As you'll note, the handle is somewhat spare compared to the top knife which is one the largest i have ever seen. There are many variations, which is what i have always found very interesting, from a design standpoint.

Thanks for the interest!

Thanks Jonathan,
The "Bearing to Blade" video must be the one? it was also one of the things that first got me interested, as well. And, seeing that even one of his "beat up" knives still looks pretty darn good, i thought! Lots of character to them.

Sure david ill post couple fotos in this thred if you permise

Fowler's really appeal to me! I wish I could hold one and get a feel for it before sinking the amount of $$ they usually go for. I would however JUMP on that $450 purchase for a 'used' Fowler!! Great buy there I'd say. :)

1980s era knife. - photos borrowed from a dealer website.

For comparison, another slim profile knife, Ed sold at Blade, 2012.
