Cool weather is coming. I'd like a belt knife that would easily fit under a coat with minimum bulging to carry on the trail. Looking for a good, relatively sturdy blade under 100.00.
Any ideas? So far I only looked at the RAT knife, but wonder if any other good choices in this price range. Not picky about what type of steel but want a plain edge.
Thanks in advance for all advice or thoughts on this.

Don't know exactly how sturdy of a knife you are looking for; but I was looking at the Benchmade 10510(Gamer) to use as a warm weather knife for the same purpose. Seems it would be a relatively low profile, I however don't own one yet.
Heres a link to the specs from the Benchmade site http://www.benchmade.com/products/10510
Its discontinued, but you can still find it some places online.

ESEE 4. It even comes with a fantastic sheath system that allows you to set it up for horizontal carry.

Another option is the Fallkniven F1. However you would probably have to make up a concealment sheath (though the zytel sheath may work ok in this role).

+1 on the Mora. insanely high quality blades at a rock bottom price point.
+1 on Fallkniven F1, if you can swing the extra dosh. an even more insanely high quality blade, with a price point that, imho, is pretty reasonable.

Though not mentioned much, Entrek knives are a very good knife with a few to fit your requirements. A few years ago I wanted the same thing you do now and bought an Entrek Cobra. This is a clip point, 440C blade that is 4.0" long X .187" thick. Black micarta handles and a kydex sheath. There is also another version of the same knife called the Companion which has a spear point blade. Link to the Cobra, then to the Companion.

I have the RAT 3 (now ESEE), which is under your 4" mark. The sheath system and the knife itself are flat, conceal well under a light shirt. Quality is excellent, as is the guarantee. I assume the ESEE 4 is a similar setup.

RC 4, great knife, you can get leather sheaths like Sharp shooters, and upgrade to G-10 handle scales @ The Knife Connection. Even stock, RC-4 is a great knife!

RD4 also a great knife, but much bigger, even the bush series at 3/16" thickness would be a much bigger knife. The Ontario sheaths aren't that good, will hang down very low.
The handle slabs are thick, much thicker than the RC-4.

Hest is another low profile knife, as well as the RC-3. There are many other knives, like the Mora, that I don't own, yet. So, can't give opinion on too many others.

Bark River makes a great knife, search around.
