Good evening.

I have a 4 max I've contacted Cold steel and they said for me to send it in.

The issue is the pivot spins in the housing. I can't tighten it and because if that there is some slight side to side play. I read online that a soldering iron can heat up the loctite if that is the issue. Any one have any thoughts ?

I'm getting married early September and CS is doing inventory early July. I may not get it back in time .

Any input would be great - kind of don't want to send it cuz it's my favorite. I'm a huge cold steel fan

Go get a special knife to get married with, you can then save it for dressy/memorable occasions

 Is this one of those ceremonies where the bride has to jump over your blade ? A nice CS sword might work better ! :p

I don't own a 4 Max but if I'm trying to adjust a pivot screw and it's just spinning, what I do is use a grippy rubber pad underneath the piviot. Then use a lot of downward pressure with the Torx driver.

We are getting married on a farm and I'll have a shit ton of set up to do the week before
gotcha. thanks for clarifying. my advice is......if you arent confident or comfortable or knowledgeable in doing adjustments yourself I wouldn't do it. maybe buy a fixed blade for the work on the farm. you'll be a whole lot happier than if ya mess up your 4max.

I'll send it in. I'm no expert and I could find a way to mess up a lot of things - plus it's a prized possession
Just ordered a cold steel forged drop point hunter 52100 - that will be a good farm knife

The pivot keyhole is stripped or not engaging the flat area on the pivot pin. It should not spin. I sent two back to a seller, with this same problem.

Instead of the "D" hole on the G10 of the American 4 max, the Italian version uses a metal pin embedded in the G10. This metal pin isn't engaging the flat on the pivot on some of these recent Italian 4 Max's. Nesting a thicker pin in the scale or replacing the scale is the only "non-Micky Mouse" fix.

^^^ this.

You can see the D shaped hole in the scale of my US model
