As most would recall, redwood22 posted a thread like this about 2 months ago. Since then the 4.5 and 8 models have been announced, so I thought it might be worth having another round of votes. I've added another category because of these additional models.

1. EDC
2. Hiking
3. Camping
4. Only tool for a week in the woods - unsupported

My choices would be:

1. 2.7
2. 4.5 & 8
3. 4.5, 4.7 & 12
4. 8

3. New 3.5, 4.1, 4.7, 5, 8, 10 (might as well bring them all!)
4. 8

Great thread!

1. 2.7
2. 4.7, I think
3. BRING 'EM ALL!!!!!!! But practically speaking: 2.7, 4.1 and 10
4. 10 (Rodger don't hate me!!)

1. 4.1
2. 5.1, or 6 or perhaps 8. I never felt the latter two
3. 10 & 4.1
4. 10 or perhaps 8. Once I get a chance to hold my 8, I will edit this post. I think the 8 will be better for the smaller tasks, yet big enough to thump on hard.

1. 3.5 and necker II
2. 5.1 and necker II
3. 5.1, 3.5, and necker II
4. 8 or 10 I think either would be sufficient

Although I'm sure I could find a spot for the 4.5 In there.

1. EDC - 4.1
2. Hiking - My hiking bag as a 4.1 for local light hiking but I would carry my 5.1 if I was going for longer than a few hours or if I was in some pretty deep woods
3. Camping - My overnight grab bag has a 5.1 and a 4.1 but I would also throw in a 7/7
4. Only tool for a week in the woods - unsupported - 7/7

Just for $'ts and giggles...scenario #2 one knife to rule them all, I LOVE my 5.1 because of the choil but I am falling in love all over again with my 5 - which I got before my 5.1 two years ago. Either knife will suite for any of these scenarios.

1. EDC - 5 or 5.1
2. Hiking - 5 or 5.1
3. Camping - 5 or 5.1
4. Only tool for a week in the woods - unsupported 5 or 5.1

Scenario #3 the "B" sides GSOs ("A" sides being 4.1, 5.1, etc.)

1. EDC - N2
2. Hiking - 3.5
3. Camping - 5
4. Only tool for a week in the woods - unsupported - 6 (the most under rated GSO)

This is where I (currently) fit in:

1. 4.1
2. 4.1
3. 4.1
4. 4.1

haha...

Seriously though, without having any other models (yet) I could seriously consider the 4.1 for all the tasks above and feel confident the knife would not only perform the tasks in each category, but actually excel at them in most cases. I'll be taking the 4.1 out in the woods tomorrow for a more thorough examination by hacking away at plenty of trees/logs/tasks as I will be building a couple blinds/hides in some decent hunting spots I will be utilizing this bow season.

I love my 5.1.
Its just over my legal length for carry in Texas. Unless doing and outdoor activity. So it stays on my "truck pack" which is my day hike/fishing bag.
