I have the light above and so far really like it but it seems a little unreliable. What I mean is that when I do not use thee light for some hours the light will not turn on and I have to unscrew the tail cap some what and then it will turn on and some times the turbo mode, which is set to the loose setting, will not turn on. I am using regular duracell alkalines so that might be my problem but I don't know. I am going to get some eneloop rechargables but until then I am stuck with the alkalines.

My regular Quark was shipped with Duracell alkalines. So I don't think that is the problem. Contact 4Sevens directly with your problem. They have outstanding customer service. I'm sure they will help you.

I had the same problem with my Quark AA2 Tactical. I contacted 4-Sevens and this is what they told me to do. Remove the tail cap, you will notice the locking ring with two holes. Tighten this ring down clockwise. Take some rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip and clean the locking ring surface. All my problems disappeared. The alkaline batteries should work just fine.

This ^

Common problem with lights using a retaining ring in the tailcap.

Sounds like an issue with contacts. If what IUKE12 says doesn't work, I'd remove the O-rings, wipe down the threads with a bit of rubbing alcohol, let it dry, and then relube and reassemble. Usually gets the job done.

Would rem oil work for lubricating the threads. And also how do I tighten the locking ring?

I've heard of people using vaseline, but don't know about rem-oil. As long as it won't gunk up or dissolve the O-rings, it shouldn't be a problem. As for tightening the locking ring, fine needle nose pliers work sometimes. Besides that, a couple nails have worked for me in the past.

Generally, the use of petrolium based lubricants is frowned upon when o-rings are concerned.

Nyogel and Superlube are some of the best rated silicone based flashlight thread lubes, according to what I read.

I have also heard of folks using plumbers pipe lube (silicone based) found at the big box stores like Lowes and HDepot.

I used a lithium based lube from Militec (Militec1 grease) on my 4sevens Mini 123 and it works pretty well and so far, hasn't affected the o-rings.

At any rate, Remoil would be a bit thin for this application. I would stick with a grease of some sort.

As for cleaning electrical contacts, Deoxit gold is favored in most of what I have read.

YMMV.

I've been lubricating my flashlights with lithium grease from Home Depot for years. It comes in a variety of sizes and packages. It is cheap, effective, and hasn't failed me yet.
